For Main Street, this was the best thing since sliced bread. I'd estimate a few thousand people.

It was AWESOME! There were tons of people lining Main Street. You had to say "excuse me" to get people to move out of the way. On Main Street!

Congrats Main Street Cruise directors...you have accomplished what no one else has been able to do...fill Main Street with people and traffic!

It was genius.

And you brought back people who once lived and played on Main Street who shared their stories with us.

Most of the night, folks just wandered around in utter amazement and joy.

Thank you!

What an awesome event! I think it exceeded everyone's expectations except John. He knew this could be big. Lots of hard work and time and money went into this but it was worth it. Christina Parrish and SAMBA got the fabulous band and Kim Heyde handled the movie. Many others helped out. Hats off to everyone who made this possible. So glad to live in this neighborhood!

John Wells' idea was genius. He tapped into a crowd of folks that while don't live here but have stake in our hood. Nostalgia is a wonderful thing. Talk about history coming alive. It was so much fun talking to folks in their 70s who went to school at Kirby Smith, Andrew Jackson, and one who even lived in Dancy Terrace back in the day (he didn't have pictures I asked, he said cameras? LOL)

Walking from 3rd/Main up to Krystal's I saw new businesses that have not been shared on this forum. I can not recall their exact names but there was a nail shop, a boutique/jewelry/consignment store (these shops were giving out praline candy they were making.) There was also a consignment/thrift next to Carl's Restaruant, and a thrift store in the old (not the one with the NOLA style wrought iron, but the second site) of the old A-Z sandwiches.

Where the band played (Thanks Cristina Parrish) that building was nice. But $1500 is a lot for rent. City Kids and Krystals were hopping for business inside. It was great. They were completely overwhelmed. I saw cars getting washed as well. The movie set up was retro cool (Thanks Kim Heyde.)

Life on Main Street. What a wonderful thing. Kudos to John Wells. And that doesn't say it enough.

Inside Krystals!

Can you imagine what a monthly crowd could do for local businesses on Main Street, folks downtown on a Saturday night?

You all are amazing! Thank you for organizing this event.

Yes, what were all those businesses with their lights ablaze? Is Buzz finally open (old Epicurean)?

I had planned to just go grab a quick bite at Uptown and maybe walk around a bit, but when I got there it was far more than I was expecting. Just an awesome all around event. Great job for everyone who put it on and helped out.

Unfortunately, if you go to Jacksonville.com right now, instead of reading about this awesome event...you will see that there was a police shooting in Springfield last night. http://jacksonville.com/news/crime/2012 ... -overnight

Not cool
