Getting a little snarky. How about a productive discussion?

Snarky, the same old nonsense, it is continual very very sad. I am removing my posts. Such continued nastiness is a sickness.

I was just making a little funny joke about the strippers. Nothing more. I wrote and sent my emails to Mayor Brown in opposition to the Armory location. That was really quite poorly thought out for many reasons. That is becoming par for the course for this Mayor unfortunately.

Yes, this was a bit "snarky", but also a reminder that we need to learn from our past and not make the same mistakes.

How about a Southern Rock Hall of fame? After all, the South does it better, does it not?

Of course then we'd have zombie hoards of Southern Rockers roaming through Springfield.

It was quite obvious that mlbford's post was in jest, so was most of my response. The part about it being a great location for a Southern Rock Hall of Fame was not.

Ms. Farley was, as she often does, responding to WHO posted rather than what was posted. Sad, really.

Meanwhile, think about the idea of a Southern Rock Hall of Fame - over on MetroJacksonville, it was mentioned that this is not the first time this was brought up, though a first as a use for the Armory. 80,000 SF, a historic building and one that seems a natural to be re-purposed into an entertainment venue. We have many great Southern Rock bands, both from the past, like Lynyrd Skynyrd and 38 Special to today's bands like Shinedown, that hail from Jacksonville. It just seems fitting and I think a use that at least most could be happy with.

OK, so since a homeless shelter is out, non-profits have looked at it and passed, and a Southern Rock Hall of Fame is unrealistic, what do you suggest?

Meanwhile, go read MetroJacksonville and see that there was indeed interest once and could be again in having a Southern Rock or Music Hall of Fame in Jacksonville.

I'm sure people in Cleveland said the same thing about having a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995.

Has the city ever issued an RFP for it?

I'd support a Southern Rock Hall of Fame with a concert venue. But I'd prefer the concert venue be open to a variety of artists.
