Sustainable Springfield has been educating us about what we eat since it opened the Laura Street garden in 2009. There are many reasons to worry about our food supply today, disreputable corporate farms, greedy food politics, chemical additives, growth hormones, seldom do we get to trust what we fuel our bodies with, our most basic need.

The food swaps bring those handy with their gardens and their kitchens together from all over the city and provide gleaming examples of what a community can do to add quality products to their kitchen tables. Additionally, and perhaps more importantly, these swaps give the rest of us time to pause and to wonder about our food, the quality and wholesomeness of it all.

Thank you to Amanda and Mark and all of Sustainable Springfield for caring about what and how we eat.

I was thinking about trading pies next time. Apple, butterscotch.

I love how everytime its something different - once we had a lot of baked goods, this time there were alot of canned goods. Its great how the selection changes with the season.

I don't have enough of anything to trade but my rosemary plant is going nuts so if anyone ever needs rosemary let me know. And right now my banana pepper plant is putting them out faster than we can eat them so holler if you'd like a few.
