Agreed, Grits. That's what I meant by putting something fun out there every month. :-) They are already talking about a dance on Facebook. Easily do-able. Different movie each month, naturally. I didn't get to stay for the movie, but the impromptu drive-in theatre looked so cool. Such a good job on that.

SAMBA will again sponsor entertainment for the July cruise, and will have an information booth where we'll sell cold drinks, popcorn and cotton candy (I smiled when I saw your suggestions, Redwing and Gloria)to raise funds to help pay for bands and other cruise improvements in months to come. We'd welcome help and participation by other neighborhood nonprofits - send me a pm if you'd like to work with us!

Less than a week until this month's Main Street Cruise!

Saturday, July 28th from 5:30 pm until ????

Two bands:

Grandpa's Cough Medicine (check them out on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Grandpas ... 3462179497 )

and the 77ds

Local restaurants will be open AND we have a couple of food trucks coming in, including Super Food Truck ( https://www.facebook.com/superfoodtruck )

Crystal will again have specials and we've heard from a number of vendors who plan to be out and about, including at Kool Beans (https://www.facebook.com/events/333470213407328/)

Please stop by 4th and Main to listen to the bands and buy a cold drink from SAMBA - we'll be working hard to raise funds for entertainment at future Main Street events.

We've been busy this morning - tent is up for the bands (Thanks, John and Lorrie Wells!) and space is blocked off for the food trucks in the grass area at the Main Street Car Wash. Silas Jones and Michael Trautman have been wonderful sponsors of this event - neither is charging anyone for the use of their properties and they have been incredibly accomodating.

Two bands tonight - Grandpa's Cough Medicine from 5:30 to 7:30 and the 77ds from about 8 to 10. Tres Leches will be at 4th and Main selling delicious items from their menu and helping SAMBA raise money for the bands.

We just learned that Joseph's Pizza, farther down Main but an enthusiastic supporter of the cruise, has pledged 10% of tonight's proceeds to help us pay for the entertainment. Go eat some pizza, people!

Thanks to everyone for coming out and supporting our local merchants. As John Wells says: Cruise whatcha got, have fun, and be safe!

What an amazing evening. I don't know when I've had so much fun!

(I mean what is more fun than a little kid on a fire truck? Me, Faith, Joan and Pat!!!)

The cars, the people, the open merchants (City Kidz soft serve is the BEST), the fried pickles from the food vendors, the bands, the people actually walking the block between 7th and 8th, Dan in a balcony, pretty ladies in classic apparel.

I heard that folks came from as far away as Alabama.

This cruise was nothing short of genius. John Wells, Chris Parrish, and all who helped them, thank you for the fun, for bring folks in from all over to walk the sidewalks of Main, and especially for filling the neighborhood with joy and laughter.

With not being in town for the first one, I can only comment about the one last night...WOW, what a fabulous crowd, and what a wonderful time!! It was just so great seeing so many out and about on Main street, friends, neighbors and lots of visitors.

Major thumbs up to John Wells and everyone else involved in putting this together, a job very well done! The cars, the people, music, food and overall atmosphere was awesome!
